2011 AGV Off-Road and Dual-Sport Helmets Announced

December 10, 2010 - AGV is expanding its off-road helmet line with the introduction of the new AGV AX-8 and AX-8 Dual-Sport helmets.

After celebrating its return to the off-road and motocross markets in early 2010 with the release of its thermoplastic resin MT-X helmet, AGV expands its off-road products family with 2 new helmets.

First is the high-end AX-8, with its carbon-Kevlar-fiber shell. The AX-8 was developed over the past two years in close collaboration with AGV’s team of pro riders on both sides of the Atlantic.

Riders included the American X Games and Supercross stars Travis Pastrana and Davi Millsaps and European Motocross, Enduro and Supermotard champs like David Philippaerts, Deny Philippaerts, Gautier Paulin.

The AX-8 brings AGV back into the world of dirt with an original design and highly technical characteristics.

The Design

The design is pure AGV style with an evident family feeling in the shape of its shell and the front air vents and rear extractors that show influence from AGV’s road racing helmets and the MT-X.

Helmet Shell

For the shell construction, AGV used and SSL layering made of carbon, Kevlar and fiberglass in order to keep the weight low while ensuring the maximum safety. The AX-8 comes in 3 shell sizes which, combine with various inner liner combination of cheek-pads and crown-pads allow for a size run ranging XXS to XXXL.

Enhanced Ventilation

AGV is using the IVS (integrated ventilation system), which consists of channels formed directly in the outer shell and within the double-layers EPS, allows for a more effective airflow within the helmet along with better aerodynamic performance. The result is air constantly flowing through the 7 front and lateral air-intakes while the rear extractors eliminate the moist warm air from inside the helmet.

Safety

AGV has been perfecting helmet safety since 1947, from old school motocross to countless road racing world championships, the legendary Italian brand brings over 63 years of helmet manufacturing experience in the development of the AX-8.

Like all AGV helmets, the AX-8 was created, developed and tested in-house in Italy where AGV has all the machinery and engineering needed to achieve safety performances higher than the minimums needed to reach all certification standards.

The helmet weighs at an average of 1350 grams and is certified DOT and ECE-22.05 for the US market.
